Bangkok: "Phawut" explains the second postponement of his summons in the Forex case due to a committee meeting, confirming he will appear as scheduled on August 3rd. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pawut Pongwitayapanu, a party-list MP from the People's Party and an accused in the forex case, revealed that he did not meet with investigators from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to acknowledge the charges against him under the Computer Crime Act B.E. 2550 (2007) and the charge of defrauding the public under Section 343 of the Criminal Code. This was because he had not yet received the second summons from the authorities, and also because he had a committee meeting to attend today.
Furthermore, Mr. Pawut stated that he had previously instructed his lawyer to submit a letter requesting a postponement of the meeting with the investigating officers to August 3, 2026, while confirming that he will attend as scheduled.
Later, at 10:50 AM, Apichat Thabut, the authorized representative of Phawut, arrived to formally submit the documents to the investigating officer requesting a second postponement of the summons.
News reports indicate that, in the event that Pawawut fails to appear before investigators in person following the second summons, no arrest warrant will be requested from the court. This is because the accused had previously presented himself and coordinated with investigators in advance, and therefore, it is not considered a violation of the summons. The scheduled date for him to be informed of the charges remains as requested, on August 3, 2026.
Regarding the case of Rattapoom Tokongsap, for whom the investigating officers have issued a first summons, scheduling him to appear on August 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM, to date, no lawyer has been assigned to request a postponement of the summons.
