Bangkok: This morning, PM 2.5 dust levels in Bangkok exceeded the standard orange level in 69 areas, with Sathorn being the highest.
According to Thai News Agency, PM 2.5 levels in Bangkok exceeded the standard orange level in 69 areas, with the highest level in Sathon District at 65.8 micrograms per cubic meter. Meanwhile, 24 provinces nationwide saw levels exceeding the standard.
The Bangkok Air Quality Information Center reported on the situation of particulate matter no larger than 2.5 microns, or PM 2.5, this morning at 7:00 a.m. The average level in Bangkok was 50.6 micrograms per cubic meter, exceeding the standard at the orange level, beginning to affect health in 69 areas, with the dust particles showing an increasing trend.
The district with the highest PM 2.5 dust values was Sathon District at 65.8 micrograms/cubic meter, followed by Bang Rak District at 61.7 micrograms/cubic meter, Lat Krabang District at 60.1 micrograms/cubic meter, Min Buri District at 59.5 micrograms/cubic meter, and Nong Khaem District at 56.8 micrograms/cubic meter.
For health advice, the general public and at-risk groups should use personal protective equipment, such as PM 2.5 masks, whenever outdoors, limit or avoid strenuous outdoor activities or exercise, and monitor for unusual symptoms such as coughing, difficulty breathing, and eye irritation. If you experience any unusual symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
It is expected that between December 4-6, there will be a chance of rain and dust levels will decrease. While forecasting the weather trends between December 2-10, most ventilation is in the “poor/weak” range during the closed atmosphere near the surface, so it is expected that the dust concentration trend will be higher. However, during December 4-6, the atmosphere near the surface is relatively open and there is a chance of rain, so it is expected that the dust concentration trend will decrease during that period.
Regarding the overall PM 2.5 levels nationwide, the Pollution Control Department’s Air Pollution Resolution Communications Center reported that air quality monitoring this morning at 7:00 a.m. found that air quality exceeded standards in 24 provinces, spread across all regions except the South, where overall air quality remained good.
In the North, dust levels exceeded the standard in 4 areas, reaching a maximum of 48.1 micrograms per cubic meter. In the Northeast, levels exceeded the standard in 3 areas, reaching a maximum of 52.7 micrograms per cubic meter. In the Central and Western regions, levels mostly exceeded the standard, reaching a maximum of 52.0 micrograms per cubic meter. In Bangkok and its vicinity, levels mostly exceeded the standard, reaching a maximum of 81.6 micrograms per cubic meter. In the Eastern region, levels mostly exceeded the standard, reaching a maximum of 57.4 micrograms per cubic meter.
