Sadao: A robber who used a fake gun to rob a convenience store was arrested. He claimed he needed the money to pay off informal debts and to pay for his wife's childbirth.
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage shows a suspect dressed in black, wearing a helmet and face mask to conceal his identity, single-handedly robbing a convenience store at the Sadao 2 branch in Sadao Municipality, Songkhla Province, at around 5 AM on June 7th. A female employee was alone in the store when the suspect made off with approximately 3,000-4,000 baht in cash. Investigators from Songkhla Provincial Police, Region 9 Police, and Sadao Police Station collaborated to trace the suspect's movements using CCTV footage. They found that the suspect left his residence near Phichai Songkhram Road in Sadao at around 3 AM and drove around several convenience stores before committing the robbery at the Sadao 2 branch. After gathering evidence, they obtained an arrest warrant from the Na Thawi Provincial Court and apprehended the suspect last night.
The suspect, 21-year-old Waesolae Dueramae, also known as "Sun," a resident of Moo 5, Samnak Taew Subdistrict, Sadao District, Songkhla Province, was apprehended while sitting at a roadside stall selling cooking oil with a friend in front of a house in Moo 2, Samnak Kham Subdistrict, Sadao District, Songkhla Province. During questioning, Waesolae confessed to robbing the convenience store, stating he needed money to pay off nearly 10,000 baht in informal debt. He claimed he was threatened with harm if he didn't repay the debt, which he incurred nine months prior when his wife was pregnant. He drove his motorcycle from his home, carrying a fake gun, to rob the convenience store, obtaining 3,000-4,000 baht. He insisted he acted alone and that his wife and parents are unaware of the crime.
