Bangkok: Police in Sa Kaeo province: have arrested a suspect and recovered all 72 baht-weight (approximately 1.1 kilograms) of stolen gold jewellery following a gold shop robbery at a local shopping center in Aranyaprathet district.
According to Thai News Agency, the robbery occurred on Aug. 27 at a Lotus's department store, where the suspect fled with gold jewellery valued at over 7.7 million baht. Officers subsequently located the electric motorcycle used in the crime submerged in a canal on Aug. 29. Evidence found underneath the seat led investigators to identify the suspect as 36-year-old Arnon, prompting the Sa Kaeo Provincial Court to issue an arrest warrant.
Police raided a residential property in Tha Kham sub-district and took Arnon into custody. Following his arrest, the suspect guided officers to a railway area in Aranyaprathet where he had discarded the gold, allowing authorities to fully recover the stolen property.
