Bangkok: Police investigators from Nimit Mai Police Station have successfully apprehended a notorious thief who had evaded capture for years despite committing numerous crimes in various areas. The arrest took place at the suspect's residence.
According to Thai News Agency, investigators were alerted to a theft at the Insee Daeng Warehouse shop, located at the entrance of Soi Hathairat 50, Sam Wa Tawan Ok Subdistrict, Khlong Sam Wa District, Bangkok. Upon arriving at the scene, they found the shop in disarray, with several jewelry items missing. The victim reported closing the shop at 9:00 PM on June 15, 2016, only to discover the theft the following morning.
Initial investigations revealed that CCTV cameras in the Japanese store captured the thief in action. Pol. Col. Chaithat Chiangtha, the officer leading the investigation, instructed his team to expedite the capture of the suspect. The team meticulously examined CCTV footage to identify the suspect and the vehicle used in the crime, tracing the suspect's route back to his residence.
Further questioning of the victim, supported by CCTV footage, confirmed the suspect's identity as Mr. Pakasit Masara. The victim recognized Mr. Pakasit from previous visits to the store. The investigation team compiled evidence and secured an arrest warrant for Mr. Pakasit, who had committed the crime on June 16, 2069, at approximately 2:00 AM.
Investigators discovered Mr. Masara residing in Soi Chueamsamphan 19, Khok Faed Subdistrict, Nong Chok District, Bangkok. While the arrest warrant was being processed, the team conducted surveillance and apprehended the suspect outside Y and M Apartment. Mr. Pakasit was presented with the arrest warrant, and a search of his residence yielded numerous incriminating items. A red sedan belonging to the suspect was also found nearby, containing tools used in the thefts.
Further investigations led to Mr. Pakasit's confession of committing thefts in several areas, confirming his long history of criminal activity.
