Saba Yoi: Assailants shot at a police car at Saba Yoi Police Station while it was taking a monk on an alms round. Initial reports indicate that one novice monk died.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place at approximately 6:00 a.m. An unknown number of assailants targeted a police pickup truck from Saba Yoi Police Station while it was picking up six monks and novices from Wat Ko Aphinihan, also known as Wat Kuhra, to go on an alms round. The attack occurred on Suan On-Ban Khlong Rian Road, roughly 500 meters from the temple.
Two novices in the vehicle were shot and injured during the incident. Tragically, Novice Phongkorn, aged 16, who was the son of Pol. Lt. Wattana, succumbed to his injuries and died on the way to the hospital. Novice Phokhanit, aged 12, was also injured in the attack.
Security officers are currently conducting a thorough investigation at the scene and are actively pursuing the perpetrators responsible for this violent act.
