BANGKOK: The National Police Chief expressed gratitude towards police officers nationwide for their effective handling of safety measures during the 2025 New Year celebrations, highlighting the success in reducing both accidents and crimes.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, the national police chief, extended his appreciation to all police officers for their dedication and teamwork during the New Year festival. The officers were commended for maintaining peace and order in celebration areas, preventing crimes, and facilitating traffic, thereby ensuring a safe and enjoyable festival for the public and tourists.
The success was attributed to proactive measures, including setting up checkpoints, conducting alcohol tests, and managing traffic on heavily traveled routes. The introduction of advanced technologies such as traffic patrol drones and smart CCTV cameras at event locations also contributed to a significant reduction in crime, accidents, deaths, and injuries compared to the previous year.
In addition to the efforts of the police, the national police chief acknowledged the public's cooperation, which included adherence to traffic laws, reporting suspicious activities, and avoiding risky behaviors. This collaboration was deemed crucial to ensuring public safety. The chief expressed hope that the success of the 2025 New Year Festival would set a positive precedent for a safer and happier year for all Thais.
The Royal Thai Police plans to evaluate the challenges and lessons from this operation to enhance safety measures for future festivals and significant events.
