BURIRAM: A female employee of a local administrative organization was taken aback when police visited her workplace inquiring about a significant sum of 39 million baht. The woman, Ms. Sarinee, found herself involved due to a name resemblance, though she maintained she had no prior acquaintance with individuals named 'Madam Oi' and 'Lawyer Tum'. According to Thai News Agency, the inquiry stemmed from reports that Lawyer Tum allegedly solicited 39 million baht to aid in settling debts for an acquaintance. The ensuing police investigation revealed that this substantial amount had been deposited into an account bearing the name Ms. Sarinee, coinciding with that of a civil servant employed at a local administrative organization in Nang Rong District, Buriram Province. Investigators approached Ms. Sarinee at the Subdistrict Administrative Organization to determine any potential link. Initial findings indicated no financial connections, though the matching names prompted initial interest from the authorities. Con sequently, the police officers did not harbor further suspicions. Ms. Sarinee expressed her astonishment at the police inquiry, emphasizing her lack of association with Madam Oi and Lawyer Tum. Residing in a rural area and leading a modest lifestyle, she assured her willingness to assist with any additional information required by the authorities. Confident in her non-involvement, she mentioned her awareness of the figures only through news coverage.
