Bangkok: The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) has been recognized for its ethical initiatives by winning the “THAILAND MORAL AWARDS 2024” in the Organization and Individual category, specifically for its “People…Keep Water for the Land” project. This project was highlighted as a model for ethical organizations within Thai society.
According to Thai News Agency, the award was received by Dr. Drut Khamwichitthanapa, the PAT Director and Chairman of the Good Governance and Social Responsibility Committee. The award, presented by the Virtue Center (Public Organization), acknowledges the “People…Keep Water for the Land” project for its efforts in constructing water retention dams in the northern upstream region, which aims to mitigate drought and flooding while strengthening local communities. Additionally, Mr. Thanapong Jaisue, Director of Administration, was honored with the Individual Award for his ongoing societal contributions.
The award ceremony was attended by notable figures including Khunying Pathama Leeswadtrakul, Chairwoman of the Center for Ethics (Public Organization), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suriyadev Tripati, Director of the Center. Other key attendees included Mr. Paiboon Siripanusathien, a Board Member of PAT, Mr. Kriangkrai Chaisiriwongsuk, Director of PAT, and Lieutenant Commander Yuthana Mokkhao, Director of Laem Chabang Port, along with executives, staff, and community leaders from the regions benefiting from the weir construction. The event took place on September 9, 2025, at the Port Authority of Thailand office building.
Mr. Kriangkrai Chaisiriwongsuk stated that PAT remains dedicated to organizational development and creating sustainable benefits for Thai society. In addition to the THAILAND MORAL AWARDS 2024, the “People…Keep Water for the Land” project has also been recognized with the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) in the Social Empowerment category and the Saint Francis of Assisi Award. These accolades signify both domestic and international acknowledgement of PAT’s role in societal empowerment and natural resource conservation.
Lieutenant Commander Yutthana Mokkhao emphasized that the award serves as motivation for PAT to continue its efforts. The “People…Keep Water for the Land” project is crucial for community development, as it not only aids in water conservation but also strengthens local cooperation, restores ecosystems, and generates employment and income, aligning with the royal philosophy of community development.
