Port Authority of Thailand Reports 7 Billion Baht Profit Amid Increased Vessel and Cargo Volume

Bangkok: The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) has showcased impressive financial results for the fiscal year 2025, reporting profits of 7 billion baht.

According to Thai News Agency, PAT’s operational achievements during this period highlight significant growth in services for ships, cargo, and containers across its five main ports: Bangkok Port, Laem Chabang Port, Chiang Saen Commercial Port, Chiang Khong Port, and Ranong Port.

Mr. Kriengkrai Chaisiriwongsook, Director of PAT, shared that the fiscal year 2025 (October 2024 – September 2025) saw a total of 15,113 vessel calls, marking an increase of 4.61%. The total cargo volume reached 125.07 million tons, an increase of 5.46%, while container volume reached 11.43 million TEU, up by 6.44% compared to the previous year.

The financial performance of PAT’s main ports demonstrated varied trends. Bangkok Port experienced 4,460 ship calls, an increase of 7.37%, with cargo throughput totaling 18.92 million tons, a slight decrease of 0.49%, and container volume at 1.28 million TEU, a marginal increase of 0.18%. Meanwhile, Laem Chabang Port reported 10,653 ship calls, an increase of 3.50%. It handled cargo throughput of 106.15 million tons, up by 6.60%, and container throughput of 10.15 million TEU, an increase of 7.28%.

The regional ports under PAT also showed promising growth. Ranong Port handled 5,459 TEU of container cargo, reflecting a significant increase of 95.24%, while Chiang Saen Commercial Port managed 187,000 tons of cargo, up by 62.72%. This growth aligns with the expansion of border trade and logistics routes to the BIMSTEC region.

Director Kriengkrai emphasized that despite global economic volatility, PAT achieved a net profit of 7,096 million baht. This stability and growth are credited to the ongoing development of port service capabilities, including infrastructure and management enhancements, to support increasing logistics demand and promote the growth of Thailand’s water transport sector.

Looking ahead to the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, PAT is set to advance projects aligned with government and Ministry of Transport policies, under the guidance of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn. Key initiatives include monitoring the Laem Chabang Port Phase 3 construction project, addressing traffic congestion around major ports, and developing Ranong Port to support the Land Bridge project, thereby bolstering Thailand’s logistics capabilities.
