Bangkok: The Prime Minister revealed that there has been no indication from Cambodia requesting negotiations. The Prime Minister declined to comment on details of the attack on Phnom Dong Rak Hospital. Regarding the daily border situation, he stated that only information from the military would be reliable for accurate updates. He also revealed that there had been no indication from Cambodia requesting negotiations, despite an advisor to Hun Manet indicating readiness to do so.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the latest situation on the Thai-Cambodian border, stating that the military holds daily press briefings. He urged all citizens to listen to information from the military spokesperson and security forces, and not to rely on information from other sources. He emphasized the importance of listening to only one source for accurate and clear information.
Regarding whether Cambodia has contacted Thailand to request negotiations, Mr. Anutin stated that there has been no such contact. When asked about social media reports that an advisor to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet had signaled a desire to talk, and whether this had been communicated through the media, Mr. Anutin retorted, “To whom?” When the reporter pointed to a media message, Mr. Anutin replied, “No, there are other channels.” When further asked if this meant the channels for contact had not yet reached Thailand, Mr. Anutin said, “They have their own channels for action, but now is not the time for discussions.”
Regarding the current situation, it is necessary to convene Parliament under Article 165 of the Constitution to discuss important issues concerning the Thai-Cambodian border situation. Mr. Anutin stated that no such request has been received yet, and the military maintains that it has the situation under full control. They merely requested government support, asking that the actions be in line with the military’s strategy.
When asked by reporters whether it was time to consider MOUs 43-44, Mr. Anutin said that there were many issues today, and that they should focus on the constitution first.
