Hat yai: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul dismissed the controversy regarding a Line chat revelation involving a Ministry of Public Health executive and a deceased individual, maintaining that such political attacks are a normal occurrence in his career.
According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister was questioned at the Buri Sriphu Hotel in Songkhla Province about the issue highlighted by Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakpal, former Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police. The general had disclosed a Line chat that allegedly included insensitive remarks about deaths during the Hat Yai floods. Mr. Anutin, however, reiterated his focus on his duties, stating, “I came to work, to help the people. There was no drama.”
Further inquiries were made about Pol. Gen. Surachet’s claim that 1,000 individuals had perished. Mr. Anutin responded that medical professionals had already verified the death toll, emphasizing that their assessments were the most reliable.
When pressed on his stance regarding those leveraging the situation against him, Mr. Anutin remained unperturbed, stating, “I don’t care. I’m working.” He also remarked on his long-standing political career, suggesting that he was accustomed to such attacks and regarded them as standard practice.
Concluding the session, when asked about the reason behind the attacks, Mr. Anutin queried, “Then what are you asking me?” before affirming, “We’re all working.”
