Bangkok: The Prime Minister led the Cabinet in preserving the tradition of “Loy Krathong” and wearing pins of the Dok Kaew Kalaya flower to promote the activities of the National Council on Social Welfare and promote the Dok Kaew Kalaya flower products. Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, received a briefing on the objectives of the Loy Krathong festival and the publicity campaign under the theme “Loy Krathong Thai, Thai, Caring for the Mother of the Land.”
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Supamas Isaraphakdi, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, acting as Minister of Culture, led a delegation of Ministry of Culture executives and officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Captain Thammanat Prompow, Ms. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, and Mr. Songsak Thongsri, Deputy Minister of the Interior. The event is scheduled for November 5, 2025, at Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchaworamahawihan. The event will also promote the “Thai Loy Krathong” festival in 18 provinces, 5 provinces with distinctive identities, and various areas in Bangkok.
The focus is on encouraging each area to hold Loy Krathong events that reflect local wisdom and provide communities with a platform for cultural expression, creating jobs, and generating sustainable local income. Furthermore, all sectors are urged to adapt the format of Loy Krathong events to suit the time of mourning for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, with a peaceful, simple atmosphere and a reverence for her grace. Activities include an exhibition honoring “8 Royal Thai Costumes,” a drone show expressing condolences to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, an exhibition promoting the significance of Loy Krathong tradition, a creative cultural market, demonstrations of traditional food and desserts, and a Krathong-making demonstration.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister took a photo with youth from the Arts for Youth Association of the Department of Cultural Promotion. He also received a Krathong Sai from Tak Province as a souvenir to symbolize the promotion of Loi Krathong 2025 under the theme “Loi Krathong Thai Thai Caravalai Phra Mae Phaen Din”. Then, Ms. Wanpriya Lohawatthanakun, 4th Vice President of the National Council on Social Welfare, Ms. Atchara Kasemwattana, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Council on Social Welfare, Ms. Wilaiwan Laithomya, Chairwoman of the Committee on Career Promotion and Development for Persons with Disabilities, and their delegation met with the Prime Minister to organize public relations activities and sell “Dok Kaew Kalaya” products.
The Prime Minister listened to the history and objectives of the Dok Kaew Kalaya Fund of the National Council on Social Welfare of Thailand under Royal Patronage. The Vice President of the National Council on Social Welfare then pinned a Dok Kaew Kalaya brooch. The Prime Minister was ready to help publicize the activities of the National Council on Social Welfare of Thailand under Royal Patronage to the public and to promote Dok Kaew Kalaya products. For the sale of Kaew Kalaya flowers, the proceeds will be used to support the Kaew Kalaya Fund, which is a fund to support training for people with disabilities, to help, promote, and develop people with disabilities in various areas, such as careers, education, disability prevention, and rehabilitation.
Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, the Princess of Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, graciously bestowed the name “Dok Kaew Kalaya” on an artificial flower created by people with disabilities at the Office of Vocational Promotion and Development of Persons with Disabilities, National Council on Social Welfare, and granted permission for it to be used as a symbol of people with disabilities nationwide, to bring good fortune to them and to foster a career.
