Bangkok: Prime Minister Anutin presided over the Buddhist chanting ceremony to commemorate the 94th anniversary of the establishment of the Prime Minister's Office.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony took place at the Santi Maitri Building (Outer Wing) of Government House, with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, leading the event. The ceremony was overseen by Somdej Phra Phutthacharn, a member of the Supreme Sangha Council and Chief Abbot of the Eastern Region, along with the Abbot of Wat Traimit Witthayaram. Cabinet ministers, political appointees, and various representatives from government agencies and the public and private sectors were in attendance.
During the ceremony, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, noted that the Prime Minister performed rituals including lighting incense and candles to honor the Triple Gem and presenting ceremonial fans to 10 monks. Officials recited precepts, and the presiding monk imparted precepts. The Prime Minister also made a ceremonial offering in front of the image of Chao Phraya Ramaraghap and presented 10 sets of monastic robes, which the monks then blessed.
The Prime Minister and the Cabinet also offered gifts and food to the monks as part of the merit-making ritual. The monks responded with blessings, and the Prime Minister continued the ritual by pouring water as a symbolic act of merit-making. He concluded the religious segment by paying respects to the Triple Gem and receiving holy water from the presiding monk.
Following the ceremony, the Prime Minister and the Cabinet explored an exhibition celebrating the founding anniversary of the Prime Minister's Office, located in the central hall of the Santi Maitri Building. The exhibition detailed the history, development, roles, and responsibilities of the Prime Minister's Office, highlighting its achievements in promoting government policy, collaboration with other agencies, and improving the civil service system for better public service delivery.
