Bangkok: The Prime Minister is waiting for the Ministry of Finance to be ready to include the “Half-Half” initiative in the Cabinet agenda. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who also serves as the Minister of the Interior, disclosed plans for a traveling cabinet meeting along the southern Isan border during a recent address.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin addressed inquiries regarding the submission of the “Half-Half” project to the Cabinet for its first session. He stated that the project would be included in the Cabinet agenda once Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanpraphas is prepared, emphasizing that the budget is already in place regardless of its source.
Anutin also clarified the timeline for the policy’s implementation. When asked about the counting of the 120-day period, whether from the date of the policy statement or completion, he explained that it would span from October 1st to September 30th. He mentioned that once the debate concludes, the process would be considered complete, taking no more than one to two days, and expressed flexibility regarding any further requirements.
On the possibility of a traveling cabinet meeting within the next four months, Anutin confirmed that such a meeting would occur. He plans to visit the Thai-Cambodian disputed area, specifically the lower northeastern region, while considering suitable provinces to avoid inconvenience to government officials and local residents.
