According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, during his visit to Australia, commented on the initial day of pre-registration for the TH-AI Passport project. He acknowledged not having reviewed the data due to the time difference but emphasized the project's aim to keep pace with technological advancements, offering unrestricted access to AI. Minister Chaijanok highlighted that the TH-AI Passport would facilitate access to stable applications and platforms, free from the gradual slowdowns and limitations typically associated with unregistered and free AI apps. The Prime Minister clarified that the initiative stems from the previous government and has been enhanced with additional platforms under the current administration.
Addressing concerns about the project's cost-effectiveness, the Prime Minister stated that the actual impact would be evident with future registration numbers. He challenged the notion that the project was politically motivated, emphasizing its goal to provide technology access to students, entrepreneurs, and SMEs. He reiterated that high registration numbers would validate the project's worth.
Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra raised concerns about the labor sector's adaptation to AI, warning of potential threats to Thailand's labor market. The Prime Minister responded by stressing the importance of upskilling to mitigate such risks, advocating for the development of both intellectual and physical labor through AI. He conveyed that increased AI accessibility would create opportunities for income generation and potential development.
When questioned about potential no-confidence debates initiated by the opposition, Mr. Anutin affirmed the government's transparency throughout the project's execution. He assured readiness to provide explanations in parliament, expressing confidence in Mr. Chaiyanok's capability to address any scrutiny.
