Prime Minister Directs Law Amendments to Expedite Deportation of Offenders

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has instructed Pakorn and related agencies to amend the laws to expedite the deportation of offenders. Today, Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed after the Cabinet meeting that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul stated that the government has continuously cracked down on foreigners involved in transnational crime, call center gangs, nominee schemes, illegal business activities, and various other offenses. Concrete results are now being seen.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister further stated that despite arrests and prosecutions, there are limitations in the deportation process for foreign offenders, and in many cases, the process takes a long time. This allows these individuals to continue living normal lives and potentially commit offenses again.

At the Cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister assigned Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan, the Royal Thai Police (specifically the Immigration Bureau), and the Ministry of Interior to jointly consider improvements to immigration laws and related regulations in order to make the deportation process for aliens who have committed offenses faster, more efficient, and more effective.

The Prime Minister further stated that all relevant agencies should consider national security, the protection of public interests, and Thailand's international obligations simultaneously.

'It is essential to emphasize and communicate that Thailand welcomes foreigners who come to travel, invest, and conduct business honestly. However, those who enter the country and violate the law or cause damage to the country will be dealt with decisively and deported as soon as possible,' the Prime Minister stressed.
