Prime Minister Dismisses 7 Million Baht Transfer as Fake News

Bangkok:Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has addressed circulating claims about a 7 million baht transfer into his account, dismissing them as fake news and a result of misinterpretation. He confirmed that no such transfer took place and stressed the importance of relying on facts.

According to Thai News Agency, Kasikorn Bank later clarified that the transfer slip was indeed fake, supporting the Prime Minister's stance. Mr. Anutin questioned the credibility of those spreading the information and emphasized the necessity of verification before sharing such claims.

When asked about potential legal action, the Prime Minister stated that he would consider it but questioned the practicality, given the dubious nature of the account that initiated the rumor. He also highlighted the need for evidence in any accusations and expressed a desire for the facts to be the primary means of addressing such issues.

Mr. Anutin humorously noted that he was informed about a supposed deposit of 7 million baht into his Kasikorn Bank account, yet, upon checking, he found only a little over 10,000 baht. He remarked that the account number associated with the fake slip did not match his own and that there was no deposit certificate submitted to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, eliminating any further speculation.
