Bangkok: The Prime Minister has signed an order to establish a new center aimed at managing the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. This initiative involves collaboration with the private sector to proactively address and mitigate the impact of the conflict. The Minister of Transport has been appointed as the director of this newly formed center.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul issued Prime Minister's Office Order No. 53/2569 to create the Center for the Management and Monitoring of the Conflict in the Middle East (CMC). This center is tasked with ensuring efficient and effective responses to the conflict's impacts on the region.
The committee includes various relevant agencies, with the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Transport serving as the director, and the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance acting as the deputy director. Other members of the committee include the Minister of Defence, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Energy, the Minister of Commerce, and the Minister of Labour, along with relevant permanent secretaries.
The center also incorporates input from security and economic bodies such as the Economic and Social Development Council, the National Security Council, the Council of State, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Fiscal Policy Office, the Bank of Thailand, and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand. Additionally, there are economic representatives from the private sector to oversee trade, investment, and export outlooks during the crisis. These include the Federation of Thai Industries, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, PTT Public Company Limited, and the Thai Bankers Association.
The center's responsibilities include directing and managing the situation, recommending solutions, and mitigating potential impacts from the conflict. It also has the authority to instruct government agencies and state enterprises to integrate efforts within their legal frameworks to ensure efficient operations.
A key focus is placed on proactive public relations to disseminate accurate information to the public, thereby building trust between the government and the people. The center can summon relevant government entities and officials for meetings, to provide clarifications, submit documents, or take other necessary actions for comprehensive situation monitoring and evaluation.
