Prime Minister Lauds Thai Teen ‘Nene’ for America’s Got Talent 2026 Success

Bangkok: The Prime Minister praised 'Nene' for making a name for herself on the AGT2026 stage, winning the Golden Buzzer and advancing to the finals, and encouraged Thais to cheer her on.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who also serves as Minister of Interior, commended "Nene Royal," or Nong Praew, Ms. Rattikan Amlai, a 16-year-old from Phuket. Nene's performance on the world stage of America's Got Talent 2026 has brought recognition to her province and Thailand. Her rendition of "Black Hole Sun" on vocals and guitar earned her a Golden Buzzer from Mel B, securing her spot in the finals.

Ms. Ploytalay highlighted that Nene's stage presence was not just about her musical talent. She integrated Thai silk, specifically brocade with shimmering gold patterns, as an accessory tied around her waist. This fabric, deeply rooted in the cultural identity of the southern border provinces of Thailand and the Malay Peninsula, added a contemporary touch to her performance, showcasing Thailand's cultural influence and soft power to a global audience.

The Thai government has called on its citizens to rally behind Nene as she vies for the championship in America's Got Talent 2026, which will see its finale on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, and the winner announced on the following day. Ms. Ploytalay emphasized that Nene's achievements are a source of pride for her family and all Thais, particularly the residents of Phuket, and serve as an inspiration to Thai youth to chase their dreams.
