Bangkok: The Prime Minister has directed the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to formally protest an incident where Thai soldiers were injured by a landmine while on border patrol. The Prime Minister emphasized the need to pursue action to the fullest extent of the law and instructed the ministries to provide immediate assistance and continuous updates on the situation.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister’s Office spokesman Siripong Angkasakulkiat reported that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul was informed by the Royal Thai Army about the landmine incident in the Huai Ta Maria area of Si Sa Ket Province. The explosion resulted in injuries to two soldiers, who have since received medical treatment. The Prime Minister expressed concern and instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense to lodge a protest with the Interim Observer Team (IOT), committing to legal recourse.
The Prime Minister has also mandated that the military and relevant agencies ensure comprehensive medical care for the injured soldiers. Additionally, he extended his support to all personnel stationed in the border areas and requested regular updates on the progress of the situation.
