Yala: Officials have cordoned off the scene of a bombing incident in Yala, including Suan Khuan Muang and the Chang Phueak ceremony grounds. They are working to clear the area and ban the public from entering. The Prime Minister is preparing to visit the southern border provinces this Saturday.
According to Thai News Agency, the bombings caused chaos in Yala Province on the evening of October 8th, with two locations targeted by assailants. The first attack occurred at the artificial waterfall in Suan Khwan Muang, Yala Municipality, where seven bombs were detonated in a span of over two hours. The explosions took place at 8:03 PM, 8:14 PM, 8:22 PM, 8:52 PM, 9:24 PM, 9:42 PM, and 10:30 PM.
The second location affected by the bombing was the White Elephant Ceremony Ground. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported at either location. In response to the incidents, security forces in Yala Province swiftly secured the area to ensure public safety, and exercise at both Suan Khwan Muang Yala Park and the White Elephant Ceremony Ground was prohibited.
This morning, Deputy Governor of Yala Province, Mr. Kongsakul Chantharat, along with Pol. Col. Chatchai Sakdee, Superintendent of Yala City Police Station, visited the scenes and enforced a strict no-entry policy. Mr. Kongsakul briefed the morning exercise crowd, some of whom were unaware of the incident, and awaited the arrival of the bomb disposal team and the Forensic Science Center 10, Yala, for a detailed inspection of the sites.
Mr. Kongsakul assured the public that officials had been actively controlling and securing the area following the incident, particularly at Suan Khwan Muang since last night. Three agencies have been collaborating to ensure security while waiting for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel to conduct their investigations. At Chang Phueak field, where a single bomb exploded, entry and exit gates have been closed, and residents have been advised to avoid using the route and refraining from exercising in the area.
