Prime Minister Returns to Thailand to Address Corruption and Drug Trafficking Issues

Bangkok: The Prime Minister returned to Thailand and immediately got to work, summoning the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior to report on the corruption case in the local government examination.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister flew back to Thailand and immediately resumed work at Government House after completing his duties accompanying the royal family on a visit to France. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul returned to Thailand today after being granted royal permission to accompany His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen on their official visit to the Republic of France from June 28 to July 2, 2026, as an honorary minister to serve and receive royal guidance.

Reporters say that upon arriving in Thailand, the Prime Minister will immediately go to Government House to begin his duties. While a specific agenda has not yet been outlined, there are several issues that require urgent resolution.

Reports indicate that this afternoon, the Prime Minister will summon Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, to report on the progress of the corruption investigation into local government examinations. This evening, the Prime Minister will summon relevant agencies to report on the situation regarding the fight against drug trafficking, following the arrest of a Thai Airways flight attendant by Australian Federal Police for allegedly possessing heroin hidden in her luggage. Prior to this, the Prime Minister, acting from France, urgently ordered a meeting of the Committee on Drug Prevention and Suppression, including the Airports of Thailand (AOT), to be held tomorrow afternoon, July 3rd, 2026.

In addition, the Prime Minister will hold a meeting to prepare for his visit to Malaysia on July 9-10.
