Prachinburi:The Prime Minister visited the heavily flooded Prachinburi province to inspect field hospital operations and provide assistance to flood victims. During his visit, he noted the severity of the flooding and praised local authorities for their efforts in mobilizing resources and establishing shelters. He emphasized the importance of expanding the emergency budget to support flood victims and confirmed that field hospitals have adequate medical supplies.
According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister visited the Chakraphong Camp Field Hospital in Mueang Prachinburi District, accompanied by several government officials, including the Minister of Interior and the Minister of Public Health. They offered encouragement to patients and medical staff and assessed the need for additional medical equipment, such as ventilators and oxygen machines.
The Prime Minister also visited a shelter at the new Prachinburi Transportation Office, where he interacted with flood victims, cooks, and volunteers. He assured residents that funds would be allocated for home repairs and emphasized ongoing attention to the province's recovery post-flooding.
Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul highlighted Prachinburi as the most severely affected area, with patients relocated from the main provincial hospital. He commended the local administration for their effective response and noted the importance of external support, including expanding the emergency budget.
Anutin addressed the challenges of draining floodwaters, citing issues with water surrounding inner areas. He assured that the province is prepared to expedite drainage once possible, with necessary equipment ready.
Compensation for affected households will follow standard procedures, with 9,000 baht allocated per household for flooding lasting over seven days. Future incidents may see increased compensation through government-arranged insurance policies, covering various disaster scenarios.
Lastly, Anutin mentioned the tragic case of a local village headman who died from an electric shock while rescuing a child. He assured that full support would be provided to his family, in accordance with regulations for officials who sacrifice their lives in duty.
