Bangkok: A fire erupted at a street food stall in the Phutthabucha area around 10:53 PM, quickly spreading to five nearby buildings. The shop owner's family narrowly escaped harm, and authorities confirmed there were no injuries or fatalities. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred in a residential area on Soi Phutthabucha 3, Phutthabucha Road, Bang Mod Subdistrict, Chom Thong District, Bangkok. The fire began at a food stall and soon engulfed adjacent commercial buildings, damaging a total of five structures. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
Bang Mod Police Station responded to the incident, coordinating with Chom Thong Fire and Rescue Station, as well as volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation and Civil Defense Volunteers (Rat Burana District), to manage and control the fire.
At house number 30/85 on Soi Phutthabucha 3, a two-story commercial building, flames and smoke were seen emanating from the ground floor where the fire started, spreading swiftly to the second floor and four neighboring properties. Firefighters and volunteers deployed water hoses to contain the fire, taking approximately 30 minutes to bring it under control.
Ms. Sumintra Narasorn, the 34-year-old owner of the affected house, explained that the property served as a restaurant and residence for her family, including her father, mother, and child. They were on the second floor when they detected smoke and evacuated to find the ground floor in flames.
The precise origin of the fire remains unknown, with uncertainty about whether it began at the front or back of the house, where the kitchen is located. Ms. Narasorn mentioned they need to confirm if any electrical appliances were operational at the time.
Firefighters and rescue workers conducted a thorough inspection of the scene, confirming no injuries or fatalities. The house where the fire started, number 30/85, was completely destroyed, and four neighboring houses were also damaged. A detailed assessment of the damage is ongoing.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, pending a thorough investigation by relevant officials who are gathering evidence to ascertain the true cause.
Authorities have cordoned off the area post-incident to prevent unauthorized access due to potential structural damage and loss of property. The affected property owners, including Ms. Narasorn, have been summoned to Bang Mod Police Station to provide further information for the investigation and legal proceedings.
