In the women's singles first round, Ratchanok Intanon, the 7th seed and world number 7, showcased her skills against Neslihan Arin, world number 30 from Turkey. Intanon, a former champion of this tournament in 2013, easily won the match in straight sets, 2-0 (21-14, 21-10).
