Rebin Sulaka Makes History as First Thai League Player in FIFA World Cup

Bangkok: Rebin Sulaka has made history as the first player from the Thai League to compete in the FIFA World Cup finals. The Iraqi national team has announced its 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, and among them is Rebin Zulaka, a defender from Port FC. The tournament is set to take place in the USA, Mexico, and Canada from June 11th to July 19th, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, Rebin Zulaka's selection marks a significant milestone as he becomes the first player currently playing in the Thai League to participate in the World Cup finals. This achievement not only highlights his personal accomplishments but also brings attention to the growing talent within the Thai League.

Port FC shared the news with pride, stating that the 34-year-old defender has been instrumental for the club since his first year. Sulaka played a crucial role in helping the team finish as runners-up in the Thai League, which secured their qualification for the AFC Champions League Elite level for the first time in the club's history. Additionally, the team won the Muang Thai Cup for the second time in 16 years, a feat last achieved in 2010. Throughout the season, Sulaka made 28 appearances across all competitions, showcasing his consistent performance and dedication to the team.
