Bangkok: Attention all victims of the Khlong Thom Center fire: Registration for assistance is now open. The government announced that victims of the Khlong Thom Center fire can now register to receive assistance. Please prepare your national ID card, rental agreement, and proof of damage.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government would like to inform vendors and business owners affected by the fire at Khlong Thom Center on Worachak Road, Pom Prap Sattru Phai District, on the evening of August 28, 2026, that they can now register as victims to receive government assistance. The Pom Prap Sattru Phai District Office has opened a registration point and has outlined the procedures and required documents to collect damage data and provide assistance to those affected.
Registration will be open on August 29, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the pavilion of Wat Phra Phiren. From August 30, 2026, onwards, registration will be open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Administration Division, 2nd floor, Pom Prap Sattru Phai District Office.
Victims should prepare supporting documents for their claims, including copies of their national ID cards, rental agreements, and police reports detailing the damage in detail, along with accompanying photographs, to support the consideration of assistance.
The deputy spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office stated that after submitting the application, the Pom Prap Sattru Phai District Office will issue a certificate of disaster victim status to registered individuals and schedule an appointment for them to receive assistance at the district office. Therefore, those affected are requested to prepare all necessary documents and continuously follow up on information from the district office and other government agencies.
"The government is concerned about the affected vendors and business owners because the damage from the fire affects not only property but also their livelihoods and income. Therefore, we urge those affected to register promptly and prepare complete documentation of the damage so that relevant agencies can verify the information and provide assistance as quickly as possible," Ms. Lalida said.
For the latest situation, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) reports that the fire was extinguished at 5:32 AM on August 29, 2026, and there were no reports of fatalities. Meanwhile, the Erawan Center, under the BMA's Medical Department, reported 11 injured individuals who have been transported to medical facilities for treatment.
Ms. Lalida stated that Ms. Suphamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, who oversees the Department of Public Relations, has instructed the department to continuously monitor and disseminate essential information to the public. This is especially important for information regarding registration, procedures for requesting assistance, contact points, required documents, and additional relief measures that relevant agencies may announce, ensuring that disaster victims have convenient and quick access to government information.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jetseth Thaiseth, Deputy Minister of Interior, visited the area to monitor the situation along with relevant agencies. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation provided mobile lighting units, air compressors, machinery, equipment, and personnel to support Bangkok's operations and ensure the safety of officials and the public in the area.
The Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister added that during the disaster relief efforts, the public should be wary of fake pages, fake accounts, or fraudulent solicitations for donations. They should verify the name of the individual, organization, bank account holder, and the purpose of the donations before transferring money, and refrain from forwarding unconfirmed information about the damages received from the responsible authorities.
'Those affected by the disaster should primarily seek information on assistance from the Pom Prap Sattru Phai District Office, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and other official government channels. For those wishing to help the victims, please verify the source and account details of any donations before acting, to prevent scammers from taking advantage of the public's suffering,' Ms. Lalida said.
