Roberto Martinez Stands By Decision to Play Ronaldo for Full Game Against DR Congo

Lisbon: Roberto Martinez, head coach of the Portuguese national team, confirmed that he made the right decision to let 41-year-old striker Cristiano Ronaldo play the full 90 minutes before the "Sele§o" could only manage a 1-1 draw against DR Congo in their opening Group K match of the 2026 World Cup.

According to Thai News Agency, Ronaldo has been criticized for his poor form, failing to register a single shot on target. This marks his fifth consecutive World Cup goalless streak and his tenth consecutive goalless streak in major tournaments. The last time Ronaldo scored (excluding a penalty) in a World Cup or European Championship was back in June 2021.
