Bangkok: Today, the royal cremation ceremony was held for "Teacher Saifon," who was shot and killed at Thepsirin Nonthaburi School. Her family, fellow teachers, and students gathered to mourn her passing and honor her sacrifice in protecting her students until the very end.
According to Thai News Agency, at Wat Suwannakhon, Khlong San, a royal cremation ceremony was held for Ms. Saiphon Sirikitchakajorn, an officer in the Student Affairs Administration Office at Thepsirin Nonthaburi School, who died from a shooting incident at Thepsirin Nonthaburi School. The atmosphere was filled with sorrow. Fellow teachers, students, educational staff, school administrators, and officials from the Ministry of Education attended to pay their respects and bid farewell to Ms. Saiphon for the last time.
The family of "Teacher Saifon" tearfully reminisced about the close family bond and her dedication to her profession. They described Saifon as a loving family woman who enjoyed cooking, dedicated to teaching, and caring for her students with all her might. Although Saifon is no longer with them, the family affirmed they will continue to care for each other and will always remember her. They wish her a peaceful afterlife.
The cremation ceremony was presided over by Mr. Prasert Chantharawongthong, Minister of Education, along with executives from the Ministry of Education. Before the ceremony began, Mr. Prasert, as a representative of the government, presented a 1 million baht donation to the family from the Prime Minister's Office's Disaster Relief Fund. He also presented a "Teacher of Virtue" award from the Teachers' Council of Thailand, honoring Miss Saiphon for her dedication to her studies and her unwavering commitment to caring for her students until the very end of her life. This recognition serves as an acknowledgment of her courage, morality, ethics, and selflessness in the teaching profession, reflecting the crucial role of educational personnel who not only impart knowledge but also safeguard their students during times of crisis.
In this regard, His Majesty the King graciously granted royal patronage to the family of Teacher Saifon, and also bestowed royal cremation blessings. Furthermore, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen graciously ordered wreaths to be placed before the coffin. At approximately 4:00 PM, the royal cremation ceremony commenced. The passing of Teacher Saifon has not only caused loss to her family but also represents a significant loss to the education sector. This event further highlights the importance of enhancing safety measures in educational institutions to prevent a recurrence of such a tragedy.
