Nakhon si thammarat: Five projects of the Royal Irrigation Department are driving forward royal initiative projects in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Privy Councilors are actively monitoring and promoting these royal development projects within the province.
According to Thai News Agency, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, General Kampanat Ruddith, Privy Councillor and Chairman of the Sub-Committee for Monitoring and Driving Royal Development Projects in the Southern Region, along with sub-committee members and advisors, visited Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Their mission was to assess the progress of Royal Development Projects. The meeting, held at the Nakhon Si Thammarat Irrigation Project meeting room, was attended by Ms. Suphorn Trinarin, Secretary-General of the Royal Development Projects Coordination Committee; Mr. Tatthep Yaowapat, Senior Expert in Irrigation Engineering from the Royal Irrigation Department; and Mr. Surapong Charoenkarn, Director of Irrigation Office 15, as well as other government officials and representatives from relevant agencies.
The Royal Irrigation Department presented a summary report on four significant royal initiative projects in the province. The first project, the Nakhon Si Thammarat Flood Mitigation Project, is under construction and is 55.437% complete. It aims to reduce flooding in the city by improving drainage canals and constructing sluice gates and bridges, benefiting 32,253 households and storing 5.50 million cubic meters of water for dry seasons.
The second project, the Khlong Sang Weir Project in Thungyai District, completed in 1985, continues to supply water to 14 villages across three sub-districts, supporting 326 households and 11,200 rai of agricultural land.
The Chang Klang Subdistrict Water Resource Development Project, the third initiative, is currently 65% complete and expected to finish by September 2026. It will provide water to approximately 1,200 households and 660 rai of agricultural land in Chang Klang District.
The fourth project, the Khlong Selao Weir and Water Distribution System Project, completed in 1998, supplies water to 800 households in La-ay Subdistrict, Chawang District, supporting 1,450 rai of agricultural land.
In the afternoon, the Privy Councilors visited the Khlong Selao Weir and Irrigation System Project in Chawang District. They received a briefing on water management, released fish, and visited a durian orchard benefiting from the project.
