Bang Sai:The Royal Irrigation Department has been actively monitoring water levels in the lower Chao Phraya River basin on the western bank, emphasizing the need for accelerated water drainage in high-risk areas.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Director-General Thanand Sutthipisal visited the region to oversee water management activities. His visit was in line with the directives from Mr. Wittaya Kaewmee, the Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department. Before his site inspection, Mr. Sutthipisal participated in a conference call with Mr. Suriya Jungrungruangkit, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr. Kaewmee, and other irrigation project directors to discuss the water situation and management strategies.
During this visit, Mr. Sutthipisal assessed the water-carrying, retention, and drainage capabilities of the area. He also focused on identifying high-risk points that could impact communities and agriculture, aiming to ensure responsive and effective water management.
The Singhanat 2 pumping station in Bang Sai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, was highlighted as a critical component in the water management strategy. The station is currently operating at full capacity to expedite water drainage into the Chao Phraya River, playing a vital role in managing the water levels in the basin.
The Deputy Director-General has urged local irrigation projects to remain vigilant, particularly in vulnerable areas, to coordinate efficiently between interconnected projects. This coordination involves managing water intake, retention, and drainage to mitigate impacts on the public and agricultural sectors.
