According to Thai News Agency, the statement detailed the outcomes of negotiations between the Thai and Cambodian Army Chiefs regarding the border situation. The discussions were held in both Thai and English to ensure clarity and mutual understanding.
The first point addressed by the Army Commander involved expressing condolences for the loss of personnel due to the clashes. He highlighted the dedication of both countries' defense ministers to negotiate a peaceful resolution. The Commander reiterated support for peaceful negotiations without any breach of Cambodia's sovereignty, focusing on mutual benefits, particularly economic, for both nations.
The second point involved the agreement to utilize the Joint Boundary Committee (JBC), a government-level mechanism, to swiftly address the conflict at Chong Bok. The JBC's meeting results are anticipated within two weeks. Both armies agreed to withdraw their forces from the area, reducing tension and promoting the use of the Joint Border Committee (RBC) for any remaining issues.
