Sa kaeo: The Royal Thai Army has reported that Cambodian soldiers initiated an exchange of gunfire by firing across the border into Thailand. In response, Thai forces fired a warning shot, following legal protocols, and the situation has since de-escalated.
According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Thai Army’s spokesperson, Major General Winthai Suvari, detailed that the incident began at 4:00 PM when the Army Operations Center received an alert from the Burapha Force. Cambodian soldiers reportedly discharged firearms across the border into Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, located in Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province.
In response to the gunfire, Thai soldiers took defensive positions and issued a warning shot, adhering to the rules of engagement. The exchange lasted for about 10 minutes before tensions subsided.
