Bangkok: The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, Admiral Pairoj Fuangchan, conducted an inspection of personnel aboard the HTMS Chakri Naruebet to bolster assistance efforts for disaster victims. He noted that a total of 860 people have been rescued, including 50 individuals in emergency situations and 15 pregnant women.
According to Thai News Agency, Admiral Fuangchan attended a meeting focused on monitoring aid efforts for disaster victims on the HTMS Chakri Naruebet. He encouraged his subordinates as they carried out their duties and observed the maintenance of helicopters used for transporting supplies and food from the ship’s royal kitchen to affected individuals.
The Admiral reported that following the incident, Navy SEAL units were promptly dispatched to assist. Additionally, 15 Marine Corps Special Operations Recon teams and underwater explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) units were deployed. These units are equipped with specialized skills, including diving, to provide public assistance in non-combat scenarios.
Although the crisis phase has concluded, the next step involves rehabilitation. While the Ministry of Interior holds primary responsibility for this process, the Royal Thai Navy remains on standby for immediate response if requested. The Navy is a key government entity committed to urgent public assistance.
Throughout the rescue operations, the Navy successfully rescued 860 individuals, including 50 emergency patients and 15 pregnant women, who were subsequently transported to various shelters.
The HTMS Chakri Naruebet is serving as a royal kitchen, with helicopters delivering food and relief supplies as part of its primary mission. This operation is set to continue for 10 days, subject to the evolving situation.
