Bangkok: The family of "Hia Chatch," the owner of a rubberwood sawmill, has returned his body to their hometown in Rayong province for funeral rites following his tragic assassination in Yala province. The incident, which occurred in front of his office, has left his family in shock and searching for answers, as his older brother insists that the 60-year-old businessman had no known conflicts with anyone.
According to Thai News Agency, the investigation into the murder of Chatchawan, also known as "Hia Chatch," is currently focused on security-related issues within the region. Despite the victim having faced several previous assassination attempts, the motive behind the recent attack remains unclear. The police are diligently working to uncover any potential links or reasons behind these attempts.
The family held the funeral rites at the Buddhist Welfare Association in Klaeng District, Rayong Province, where the atmosphere was somber and filled with mourning. Mr. Meng, the older brother of the deceased, expressed the family's confusion and distress over the incident. Despite his brother's long-standing presence and business operations in Yala Province for over 40 years, the motive for the attack remains a mystery. Mr. Meng highlighted that, while his brother had been targeted in the past, the reasons behind these attempts were never understood, adding to the family's grief and frustration as they seek justice and closure.
