At 7:40 a.m. on December 8, 2025, Sa Kaeo Province issued a very urgent announcement, the highest level warning, for people living along the Thai-Cambodian border in the areas of Ta Phraya, Khok Sung, Aranyaprathet, and Khlong Hat districts to evacuate the area immediately after receiving reports of a tense situation along the border.
According to Thai News Agency, the announcement urges all residents to proceed to temporary shelters or designated safe areas by government officials. Coordination is being made through the kamnan (subdistrict headman), village headman, and district office to prioritize and expedite their removal from the area. The announcement also emphasizes strict adherence to official instructions.
Many villages began to move quickly, the atmosphere was filled with chaos. Reporters noted that in the areas of Ban Nong Chan-Nong Ya Kaeo, Ban Nong Samet, and Ban Khao Din, Village No. 8, Khlong Hat Subdistrict, Khlong Hat District, community leaders announced warnings over the village loudspeaker early this morning, prompting residents to hurriedly gather essential items such as clothing, important documents, dried food, and medicine, preparing to leave the village. The overall atmosphere was marked by a sense of urgency and apparent anxiety.
Meanwhile, the Koklan Subdistrict Administrative Organization has deployed personnel and trucks to transport people to temporary shelters provided by the province. Vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, young children, and the sick, will be prioritized for transportation. A new warning was issued, urging residents to evacuate within 30 minutes, raising public awareness. A new warning from the provincial command center urged residents in at-risk areas to “evacuate within half an hour” for maximum safety. This has created a rush in many villages, with some residents boarding vehicles provided by the Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) and District Officers, while others immediately evacuated their homes in their own vehicles.
Officials from all sectors are expediting their deployment to the area to assist residents, setting up checkpoints and convenience points along main routes to accommodate the massive evacuation this morning.
