Bangkok: Asian Games bonus: 2 million baht for every gold medal won. The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) will distribute the funds within 7 days after the competition concludes. Dr. Kongsak Yodmani, Governor of the SAT, revealed the readiness of the Thai national team for the 20th Asian Games, "Aichi-Nagoya 2026," to be held from September 19th to October 4th, 2026, in Nagoya, Japan. He stated that some athletes have already traveled ahead, competing and training, following the host country's procedures. Meanwhile, another group is currently training in Thailand, preparing to travel according to the schedule.
According to Thai News Agency, the athletes' preparation is being fully overseen by the SAT, which includes allowances, sports science, nutrition, and psychological support. The SAT, in cooperation with the National Sports Development Fund, has ensured there are no budget issues and that prize money is ready. The Governor urged athletes to compete to their fullest potential, assuring them that prize money ceremonies would occur within 7 days post-competition, as per the Fund's guidelines.
The National Sports Development Fund guidelines stipulate that gold medalists will receive 2,000,000 baht, silver medalists 1,000,000 baht, and bronze medalists 500,000 baht. For individual/team coaches with up to 6 athletes, gold medalists receive 400,000 baht, silver 200,000 baht, and bronze 100,000 baht. For team coaches with 7 or more athletes, these figures are adjusted to 200,000 baht for gold, 100,000 baht for silver, and 50,000 baht for bronze.
The Sports Association of Thailand will receive 30% of the total prize money awarded to the athletes, capping at 10,000,000 baht.
