Savings Plus Bonds Distributed to Over 20,000 Retail Investors Nationwide

Bangkok: The first round of the 4 billion baht Savings Plus bond issuance has been allocated to over 20,000 retail investors, marking a successful launch for the government. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Ekniti Nitithanprapas, highlighted that those who missed out should anticipate the next round of subscriptions in September.

According to Thai News Agency, the Savings Bond Plus program has been well-received, distributing bonds to 22,703 individuals and retail investors across the country. The initiative aims to broaden investment opportunities, providing Thai citizens with access to low-risk government bonds with attractive returns and high liquidity.

The distribution included 1,590 recipients via the SBM Wallet channel and 21,113 recipients through the Bond Connect channel. Investor interest was notably high, with subscriptions through Bond Connect totaling 16,511.654 million baht, approximately eight times the offered amount, indicating a strong demand. Allocation was executed using the Small Lot First method, ensuring fairness, while investors can verify their results through various online and banking channels.

Mr. Ekniti emphasized that investments in Government Savings Bonds Plus empower both individuals and the government, offering benefits beyond traditional savings methods. These include increased financial inclusion, competitive interest rates, and a transparent secondary market. The bonds are accessible through multiple platforms, enhancing convenience for investors.

For those who missed this opportunity, the Ministry of Finance will offer another chance to purchase bonds next month. Sales will occur from September 4-15, 2026, via the Savings Plus Wallet, and from September 7-9, 2026, through the Bond Connect Platform. The government intends to continue monthly sales throughout the 2027 fiscal year, with details on the September offering to be announced soon.
