Bangkok: The Senate, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and the Department of Public Relations, has signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting transparent and accessible communication. This agreement marks a significant step towards enhancing organizational communication and ensuring the dissemination of accurate and timely information to build public trust and elevate the Senate's image.
According to Thai News Agency, the signing ceremony was organized by the Senate Public Relations Committee, with the participation of network organizations. The memorandum of understanding (MOU) is designed to integrate the dissemination of constructive information to the public, portraying the Senate as a transparent and well-governed body. It also aims to develop more effective communication mechanisms across all media channels. Mr. Mongkol Surasajja, President of the Senate, presided over the ceremony, highlighting the importance of collaboration with various agencies.
The agreement involves the Secretariat of the Senate and the Ministry of Interior, with key signatories including Ms. Pannita Sathantraiphop, Secretary-General of the Senate; Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior; and Ms. Sudrutai Lertkasem, Director-General of the Department of Public Relations. Mr. Mongkol emphasized the Senate's mission to scrutinize legislation, monitor government administration, and address public grievances, all of which require accurate information dissemination. He noted that working with the Ministry of Interior is vital due to its extensive network, which facilitates essential information exchange.
Mr. Mongkol further explained the need for collaboration with the Department of Public Relations, especially in facing national challenges such as misinformation concerning agricultural production. The use of modern technology for information dissemination can lead to both truth and falsehood, necessitating robust information security management to minimize public and national harm.
The Director-General of the Public Relations Department stated that the department is committed to supporting the Senate's mission through its media channels, including television, radio, and online platforms. This collaboration will enable the department to effectively present information and the Senate's achievements to the public. Furthermore, it serves as a crucial mechanism for bridging information from the central government to the local level and receiving public feedback to improve governmental responsiveness.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior emphasized the Senate's role in monitoring national administration and addressing public welfare. The agreement ensures that accurate information reaches the public through various channels, thereby supporting local leaders and administrative organizations in addressing regional issues effectively.
