Singer Book Thotsakan Recounts Brewery Fire Escape Challenges

Bangkok: "Book Thotsakan" believes that even with 10 fire escape doors, people wouldn't be able to evacuate in time at the brewery fire. "Book Thotsakan" revealed the moment he shouted into a microphone to save customers before the brewery was engulfed in flames within 5 minutes. He pointed out that with the large number of people crowded inside the venue, even with 10 fire escape doors, it would have been difficult to evacuate everyone.

According to Thai News Agency, at Phaholyothin Police Station, Book Kanthaphat Lipisuwanpong, 33, lead singer of the band Tosakan, arrived to meet with investigators to provide additional testimony regarding the major fire at the Na Ladprao Brewery, after police successfully recovered CCTV footage from the establishment.

The singer revealed his near-death experience, saying that while performing on stage, he saw a spark out of the corner of his eye for a split second, followed by thick smoke and the smell of burning. In that instant, he shouted into the microphone, telling all the customers to run away, before jumping off the stage. Just one or two seconds after the warning, the electricity in the venue went out completely, and the fire quickly engulfed the entire place in less than five minutes. It was pitch black with thick smoke making it impossible to see, and the sound of things breaking filled the air.

Regarding the electrical system within the store, Book admitted that there had been occasional power outages in the past, but this problem had not occurred again recently. He could not confirm whether the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit or overload due to his lack of expertise. However, he believed that given the crowded conditions inside the store, even with 10 fire escape doors, it would be difficult to evacuate everyone in a timely manner.
