Bangkok: “Siripong” has announced that flood relief funds have been successfully transferred to over 1,071,755 households in southern Thailand, with efforts ongoing to accelerate further assistance to the affected public.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, provided an update on the distribution of flood relief payments for the 2025 rainy season. The relief is being allocated as a lump-sum payment of 9,000 baht per household across four specified categories of damage: residences flooded for up to 7 days with property damage, residences flooded for over 7 days, permanent residences surrounded by water disrupting normal life for more than 7 consecutive days, and high-rise buildings where water disruption affects normal life despite not reaching the living floors.
As of the present update, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) and the Government Savings Bank have executed 11 transfers of relief funds between December 1st and 12th. These efforts cover nine southern provinces, namely, Songkhla, Trang, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Pattani, Phatthalung, Yala, Satun, and Surat Thani, resulting in a total disbursement of 9,645,795,000 baht to 1,071,755 households.
The province-specific breakdown of recipient households includes Songkhla with 334,671 households (160,694 in Hat Yai District), Trang with 8,540 households, Nakhon Si Thammarat with 215,055 households, Narathiwat with 74,642 households, Pattani with 86,275 households, Phatthalung with 92,375 households, Yala with 65,918 households, Satun with 25,625 households, and Surat Thani with 7,960 households.
However, 17,019 households encountered issues with the transfer due to irregularities in their account information, and their data is currently being corrected. Relevant agencies are working to expedite the disbursement of relief funds to these households as swiftly as possible.
