Bangkok: The Social Security Office has disbursed 400,000 baht to the family of teacher Sai, who faced consequences from medical services. The office is also scrutinizing the medical facility's standards to safeguard the rights of insured individuals.
According to Thai News Agency, the Social Security Office is swiftly providing assistance to the family of Mr. Phanupong, an insured individual who died following medical treatment in Ratchaburi province. The Sub-committee for Consideration of Initial Compensation Payments to Insured Persons Who Have Suffered Damages from Medical Services has sanctioned an initial compensation of 400,000 baht to the heirs, the highest amount allowed under the current criteria, to ease the family's burden.
Associate Professor Dr. Nakarin Pinpathomrat, Director of the Medical Service System Division and Deputy Spokesperson of the Social Security Office, stated that the office will refer the matter to the Sub-committee on Supervision and Inspection of the Quality and Standards of Medical Services to evaluate the situation and take appropriate actions. Should a medical facility be found lacking or non-compliant with established standards, rigorous legal measures will be enforced according to the medical service contract. Additionally, the office is advising heirs on applying for benefits due to the insured person's death and is accelerating the investigation, assessment, and disbursement of benefits to eligible parties promptly.
