Soldier Seriously Injured by Landmine and Gunfire at Khao Satta Som

Sisaket: A soldier sustained serious injuries after stepping on a landmine and being shot while on duty in the Khao Sattasom area of Sisaket Province. The 2nd Army Region reported the incident involving a PMN-2 landmine during a military operation conducted by the 12th Infantry Battalion.

According to Thai News Agency, the operation took place at 11:46 AM as the battalion was working to clear a trench within a Cambodian base west of Sattasom Mountain. Private Narin Ngaoprai stepped on a landmine that had been planted by Cambodian soldiers, resulting in severe injuries to his left leg. In the same operation, Sergeant Major Sirasik Chitbun suffered gunshot wounds to his left palm and right arm, while Sergeant Suksan Nonpho was shot in the back of his right upper arm.

The 2nd Army Area Operations Center expressed regret over the injuries sustained by the soldiers. Immediate first aid was administered to the injured personnel, who were then transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

In response to the incident, efforts are underway to reinforce security measures and reorganize the deployment strategy to ensure a defined and secure line for operations in the area.
