Son Arrested for Fatally Assaulting Father Over Alcohol Money Dispute

Bangkok: An ungrateful son, refusing to give his father money for alcohol, assaulted him to death. A 40-year-old man, Mr. Phon, was arrested after he assaulted his 70-year-old father, Mr. Charan, leading to the latter's death. The incident unfolded at their residence in the Sa Khwan subdistrict, Mueang Sa Kaeo district, Sa Kaeo province.

According to Thai News Agency, the violent altercation occurred around 8 PM on September 12, 2026. Villagers who had secretly recorded the incident reported it to the Mueang Sa Kaeo Police Station, resulting in the son's arrest. The police found Mr. Phon asleep in a mosquito net, reportedly having used the money from his father to buy alcohol.

An examination of Mr. Charan's body revealed a fractured skull and broken jaw. The specific weapon used remains unidentified, pending an autopsy. Local residents mentioned that the father and son frequently drank together, though it remains unclear what triggered the altercation on that particular day. There are also suggestions that Mr. Phon might have been involved with drugs. The police have taken him into custody for further questioning and are preparing to prosecute him.
