Songkhla Lake’s Heritage Highlighted with New Book Launch and Seminar

Songkhla: The Songkhla World Heritage Foundation, in collaboration with PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTT EP), hosted a seminar and launched the book "250 Years of the Dragon's Way Along the Songkhla Lake" to promote the history and culture of Songkhla's Laem Son area.

According to Thai News Agency, PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP ED), a subsidiary of PTTEP, announced that the event is a part of efforts to have "Songkhla and the surrounding communities along Songkhla Lake" considered for World Heritage status. Currently on the Tentative List, the area is anticipated to be submitted for consideration as a World Heritage City within the next three years. The event also marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China.

The event was attended by the Governor of Songkhla Province, the Consul General of the People's Republic of China, and representatives from various sectors. As part of the proceedings, books were distributed to representatives and school administrators in the province to enhance knowledge of Chinese cultural heritage in Songkhla among young people. These books also serve as historical documentation of the 250-year-old connection between Songkhla and China along the ancient Maritime Silk Road, linked to Songkhla province. This initiative through the publication of these books is seen as a significant step in advancing Songkhla's international presence.
