Srinakharinwirot University President Files Police Report Over Exam Cheating Allegations

Bangkok: The President of Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) has taken legal action by filing a police report at Thonglor Police Station concerning allegations of exam cheating, following the release of a manipulated video clip that he claims discredits him. The move comes as he strongly defends his integrity and honesty in the face of these accusations.

According to Thai News Agency, Professor Dr. Cholwit Chiarajit, the President of SWU, has lodged a formal complaint against individuals and Facebook pages responsible for spreading false information, including edited videos that allegedly manipulate and distort facts to attack and misrepresent him, suggesting he accepted bribes. Dr. Cholwit has emphasized the importance of justice, stating that if the dissemination of false information continues, the university is prepared to take legal action to its fullest extent. He insists that the content of the video is entirely untrue and challenges those behind the misinformation to reveal their identities publicly if they stand by their claims.

Meanwhile, the Central Investigation Bureau's Commander, Pol. Lt. Gen. Natthasak Chaowanasai, has announced contact with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to request evidence, such as answer sheets, for further investigation. The NACC has complied and a meeting is set to analyze the evidence and evaluate the progress of the investigation. Clarity on the matter is expected by Monday, June 29th.

Furthermore, Dr. Cholwit addressed the allegations via telephone, responding to an audio clip released by a popular Facebook page, which purportedly links him to corruption in local government exams. He emphasized the need for fairness for both himself and the university. A police report concerning the audio clip has been filed, and he invites anyone with evidence to come forward. The university remains committed to transparency and strongly opposes corruption and any form of unacceptable conduct. Dr. Cholwit reiterated that since assuming his role, he has found such allegations unacceptable and is committed to seeking justice while upholding university principles. He clarified that any violations of university regulations would result in serious disciplinary actions, and reassured that no protections would be offered to anyone involved in misconduct.
