Bangkok: "Suksomruay" delivers! Chairing the Board of Directors of the Community Development Fund, she approved a 1 billion baht budget for the "SML Plus" project, covering the entire country. She also injected a continuous 743 million baht in the "Thai Helps Thai" program for the third time, supporting the grassroots economy and delivering benefits directly to the people.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sukhsomruay Wantaniyakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office and Chairperson of the National Village and Urban Community Fund Committee, spoke about the 7th/2026 meeting of the National Village and Urban Community Fund Committee (NVUCF Board) on August 28, stating that two important resolutions were passed to further strengthen village funds nationwide.
The meeting approved an additional 5,461 SML Plus projects, totaling 1,009,600,000 baht, as proposed by the Sub-committee on the Implementation of the Project to Support and Enhance the Capacity of Village and Urban Community Funds (SML Plus Sub-committee), covering all areas nationwide. The meeting also instructed the National Village and Urban Community Fund Office (NVUCO) to expedite the review of application documents to be completed by September this year, in order to disburse funds to the areas and the people as quickly as possible.
The board also approved the allocation of 460 million baht for the third and latest round of the "Thai Helps Thai: Capital Increase, Half-Interest Loan" project, aimed at reducing interest burdens, improving liquidity, and strengthening the financial stability of village funds nationwide.
In total, after all three rounds of the "Thai Helps Thai" project, 9,571 village funds have benefited, with a cumulative amount of 743,870,000 baht. This reflects the continuity of the policy, spearheaded by Mrs. Suksomruay, in helping to reduce financial costs and improve the liquidity of village fund members, providing them with more working capital for their livelihoods.
Ms. Suksomruay instructed the meeting to expedite budget disbursement to meet targets, in order to maximize the efficiency of government spending and ensure that funds truly reach grassroots citizens.
