Bangkok: "Suksomruay" has ordered an immediate investigation into the embezzlement of over 60 million baht from the Doi Lo Village Fund in Chiang Mai province. She declared that those responsible will be punished according to the law, without exception.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sukhsomruay Wantaniyakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that a fact-finding investigation by the National Village and Urban Community Fund Office, Region 1 Branch, regarding alleged embezzlement of village funds in Doi Lo District, Chiang Mai Province, found preliminary information that individuals had misused funds from several village funds in the area. The activities included lending members' money to others, charging interest, and circulating the funds outside the formal system, resulting in widespread damage to fund members. Several victims have already filed complaints with the police, who are proceeding with legal action and pursuing the suspects.
The National Village and Urban Community Fund Office is currently integrating its work with the police, prosecutors, and other relevant agencies to expedite investigations, expand the scope of the inquiry, and thoroughly examine the financial transactions. If any further individuals are found to be involved or if additional acts of corruption are discovered, legal action will be taken to the fullest extent without exception. The National Village and Urban Community Fund Office reaffirms its commitment to protecting the interests of village fund members, upholding the principles of transparency and fairness, and continuously building public trust.
