Summons Issued for ‘Film’ Ratthaphum in Attempted Extortion Case.

Bangkok: "Big Tao" has disclosed that a summons has been issued for Mr. Ratthaphum Tokongsub, popularly known as 'Film,' to acknowledge charges related to the attempted extortion of a substantial amount of money from the head of The Icon Group, set for December 6th. According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Col. Charoonkiat Pankaew, deputy commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, provided an update on the legal proceedings against 'Film.' This development follows an incident involving a 20 million baht audio clip, in which 'Film' allegedly demanded money from The Icon Group's boss. Investigators from the Crime Suppression Division had initially sought an arrest warrant from the Criminal Court last Friday, but the court declined, opting instead for a subpoena. The court's decision was based on the classification of the charge as 'fraud' rather than 'attempted extortion,' as initially claimed by investigators. The subpoena requires 'Film' to report to authorities on Friday, December 6th, at 10:00 a.m., to address the charge of attempted extortion. Should 'Film' wish to consult with investigators before this date, he is permitted to do so. However, failure to comply with the subpoena twice may prompt consideration of an arrest warrant in line with legal procedures. The case hinges on a complaint filed by the victim, who accused 'Film' of attempted extortion. The ongoing investigation will determine whether charges of 'fraud' or 'attempted extortion' will be pursued. Further insights into the investigation's findings are anticipated. Additionally, 'Film' faces a defamation complaint filed by "Noom Kanchai." Authorities are expected to address all related charges during his upcoming questioning.
